Build an agent workflow

Nocturnal helps you direct Claude Code across tasks and projects. Start with a plan, queue the next instruction, and use a Loop when the work should repeat.

Choose the approach

Use Ask to investigate without editing, Plan to develop an approach, or Agent to make changes. Choose a Claude model and personality suited to the task. The conversation shows context usage and session spend.

Model selection changes the Claude model used for the run. Claude Code is the coding-agent adapter supported today.

Queue the next step

You can keep writing while a session runs. Send becomes Queue, and the next prompt waits in its inbox. Edit or remove a waiting prompt before it starts.

Work also queues per project by default so runs do not edit the same tree simultaneously. Use Run now only when you intend work to run alongside another session. This does not create an isolated worktree.

Fork a conversation

Use Fork chat to copy the conversation into a new session for a different direction, such as investigating another approach. The original conversation remains available.

A conversation fork preserves chat context; it does not create a Git branch or isolate project files. Use Git deliberately if separate code changes need their own branch.

Put repeat work on a Loop

For a plan, write a prompt such as “Review the plan and complete the next unfinished item, then explain the change and checks.” Choose After each finish and a run count.

For a recurring check, try “Inspect the recent logs and report changes that need attention.” Choose a schedule and count, or continue until stopped. The computer running it must remain available. Loop explains timing, waiting questions, errors, and missed runs.

Review the result

Follow progress in the session and inspect the changed files in Git. Use a separate Ask conversation for questions about the result. Check tests and CI before deciding whether to commit, merge, or deploy.

Stop ends the active run. Stop loop cancels future repeats while the current run finishes.

Continue elsewhere

Open a cloud conversation through the web dashboard on your phone or another computer. You can also resume the session in Terminal on the computer running it. Devices and sync explains how the workspace connects.
