Getting started
Bring a project into Nocturnal, connect your tools, and give an agent its first task. Your account keeps your settings and cloud workspace information available across your devices.
Your first month is free, with no credit card required. After that, Nocturnal is $5 USD per user per month. AI-provider access and usage are separate. See pricing.
Install and sign in
Get the available installer from Download, install Nocturnal, and open it. macOS is available first; the download page lists current availability for other platforms.
Create an account or sign in. When the app opens your browser to confirm the account, finish there and return to the Nocturnal window you already opened.
Connect your tools
- A coding agent: Nocturnal scans this computer on start and uses what it finds, so if you already have Claude Code or OpenAI Codex signed in, there is nothing to do. Otherwise install one and sign in on the computer that will run your agents. Settings → Providers shows what was found and lets you switch a provider off. Model providers and API keys.
- GitHub: Nocturnal uses the GitHub CLI login this computer already has — run
gh auth loginonce, or install and sign in from Settings → GitHub. Nocturnal never asks you for a personal access token and never stores a GitHub credential of its own; it reads a short-lived token fromgheach time, which you can revoke withgh auth logout. AGITHUB_TOKENin the environment is used if you set one. GitHub features need permission to access the repositories you want to use. - Your project: make sure its language/runtime and development dependencies are installed on that computer.
Nocturnal uses your existing provider access — a Claude plan, a ChatGPT plan, or an API key you add. Its subscription does not include model credits.
Bring a project
Choose the plus in the project sidebar, then Import a project and select a folder. Choose Sync project info to discover its services, scripts, links, and technology stack. The scan creates the Nocturnal project configuration and, when enabled in settings, adds project instructions for agents.
For a new idea, choose Create a project, pick Start building or Create a plan, give it a name, and an agent opens asking what you want to build — or plan.
The scan records the ports your project uses. If they clash with another project, review the Resolve port conflicts prompt before sending it. More about the project scan.
Run one useful task
Open your project and create an agent conversation. Start with a bounded request, such as explaining the test setup or fixing one small issue. Choose Ask for exploration, Plan for an approach, or Agent for changes.
When the run finishes, inspect the changed files in Git. Review the diff and save a commit when you are satisfied. Your first reviewed release walks through the next steps.
Continue on another device
Sign in to the hosted dashboard on your phone or another computer. Select the computer running your project, then continue a cloud conversation or manage its processes. That computer must be awake and online.
Your settings and cloud chats are available through your account. Each computer has its own saved project list and layout. Devices, sync, and recovery explains switching computers and reinstalling.
