Working changes

The History sidebar is a timeline of what agents built, not a git log. Open work sits at the top. Cutting a version seals that list onto the version so it does not disappear.

Overview

After each finished agent run, Nocturnal appends a one-liner ("Added issue queue", "Fixed CI badge") to a device-local open log (~/.nocturnal/work-logs.json). Same session updates the existing line. Near-duplicates of the last few lines are skipped. Adopt, ask-mode, version-changelog, and port-remap sessions do not get a line.

Cut version copies that open list onto the new .nocturnal/versions.json entry (work) and clears the log. Overview then shows the next unversioned block above the sealed versions. Click a line to open that agent.

The rolling commit message is still drafted from the current working-tree diff. Copy or commit it at any time.

How the summaries are generated

Short titles are used as-is. Long prompts get a small Claude Haiku call. Session transcripts and git status are already on the device; the extra call is only for the readable summary.

The open log is device-local so every agent run does not dirty the project tree. Sealed work lives in versions.json with the release you already commit.

Turn it off

Settings → Working changes summaries. It is on by default. When you disable it, Nocturnal stops those extra API calls and the Overview tab tells you tracking is off. Files, Versions, and Commits still work.

Reset

Cutting a version seals the open log onto that entry. The next block starts empty. Older one-liners stay on their versions.
