Devices, sync, and recovery

Nocturnal is a connected workspace. Firebase stores your account settings, cloud conversations, and saved device information so you can move between your computers and phone, recover workspace settings after a reinstall, and collaborate on a project.

Continue from another device

Sign in to Nocturnal on the computer that has the project. On your phone or another computer, open the web dashboard with the same account and select that connected computer.

Open a cloud conversation to continue it, or use the project’s process and script controls. Commands run on the selected computer with its development environment. Keep that computer awake and online for remote work.

What follows your account

Your agent defaults, personalities, tones, shortcuts, and other account settings are shared across devices. Cloud conversations are available to continue through the hosted dashboard.

Each computer has its own project folders, project list, and workspace layout. A second computer shares your account settings; it does not automatically receive the first computer’s repository files or folder paths.

Restore after a reinstall

Sign in using the same account. On a recognized computer, Nocturnal reloads the saved project list, opened-folder information, device name, and account settings.

If a project folder moved or was deleted, restore or reconnect that folder. Reconnect your GitHub and Claude Code credentials if they are no longer available on the computer.

This recovers your Nocturnal workspace information. Use Git or your existing backup system for repository files, local databases, and other project data. A running process also needs its environment available again; saved workspace state does not restore a live process.

Work with a collaborator

Open the project’s People settings and invite their email address. They need a Nocturnal account. A project invitation lets them use that project’s shared dashboard and cloud conversations and control work through your connected computer.

Pick what they can do when you invite them, and change it later from the same list:

  • Watch — follow the project and its chats. They cannot start or steer a run.
  • Plan — they can run agents in Ask and Plan mode. Nothing on your computer is written.
  • Edit files — they can run agents that edit this project. File edits go through; shell commands do not, because auto-accept is yours alone. This is the default.
  • Full access — the same power you have, auto-accept included. Only for someone you trust with your machine.

Everything below Full access is enforced on the computer that runs the project, not in the other person’s app, so their settings cannot widen it. The work still uses the tools and credentials on that computer, so keep it available while you collaborate and revoke access when it is no longer needed.

Choose which chats sync

New conversations sync by default. Settings → Cloud controls this default, and Keep on this Mac can keep an individual conversation out of cloud chat storage. That conversation will not be available for remote continuation or sharing.

This is a chat setting within the connected product. Account and workspace sync still support the rest of Nocturnal. See What syncs to your account and Privacy.
